Our family moved to Ames, Iowa in the summer of 2006. During the past three years, we have made great friends and are now involved in the community. We are truly delighted to call Ames our home.
I am an elementary school teacher by training, but after being a stay at home mom for many years, I was ready for a new challenge. Teaching will always be one of my loves, but I was inspired to try something different, take a risk and really follow my dream.
You’re probably asking, why did I choose cupcakes? Last summer we took a family vacation to our old stomping grounds in St. Louis' Central West End. It was there that I visited my first cupcake boutique, called the “Cupcakery.” I was so excited by the concept of cupcakes. Who doesn’t love cupcakes? In this fast-paced world we rarely have time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. And that is exactly what a cupcake provides. A moment of indulgence, a taste of happiness, all wrapped up in a palm-sized gift.
I have been raised in a family that values the art of cooking -- from my grandmother to my mother. I have enjoyed baking and cooking for years. Emphasizing fresh wholesome ingredients and baking from scratch have always been the essence of my baked goods. It’s a very sweet and simple concept. With the love and support of my dear family and friends and a little leap of faith, I started Sweetness, LLC.
